Driving in Ferno

Short- or long-stay parking is available at Milan Malpensa Airport, with payment on exit by cash or credit/debit card. Elsewhere around the town, any paid parking spaces are indicated by blue markings or road signs.

Across Italy, most autostrade are toll roads. The toll charges are payable at toll booths with cash or credit/debit card.

Keep an eye on your fuel levels, as many gas stations are not open on Sundays. Also be aware that not all accept debit/credit cards, so it is sensible to carry some cash.

Ferno is a great base for exploring nearby Milan and Bergamo. In 50 minutes you can be in the cosmopolitan city of Milan, with its incredibly chic bars, restaurants and beautiful architecture, while a 40-minute drive gets you to Como and the Great Lakes of Italy. 

Lake Maggiore, the second largest lake in Italy, is only an hour by car from Ferno. With breathtaking views and stunning lakeside towns, the great lakes are an area worth exploring. Don’t miss visiting the unique and stunning Borromean Islands, with their lush vegetation and beautiful setting, owned by the prestigious Borromeo family who started acquiring them in the 16th century. 

Further afield, you can easily drive to Turin (85 miles) or venture into Switzerland, with Zermatt only 105 miles away.
