Driving in Oxford
In the UK, the national speed limit is 70 miles per hour for cars on motorways and dual carriageways, 60 miles per hour for single track roads, and 30 miles per hour for built up areas. It is common for this to be reduced to 20 miles per hour around schools and more residential areas.
Parking in Oxford can be tricky. Access to the centre is limited because of the University, meaning you will have to park slightly further out and walk in. However, there are several parking areas with pay & display systems, long-stay car parks outside of the city centre, and areas where you can park during off-peak hours. Many parking areas use a mobile system called RingGo to pay for parking, either by phoning or using a smartphone application.
Oxford is a cycling city. There is a lot of bike traffic, especially around the University colleges, so take care to look for cyclists when you are on the road.
