London City Airport
Situated in the Royal Docks in the London Borough of Newham, London City Airport lies around seven miles east of the City of London. London City served over 4.3 million passengers in 2015 and is the capital’s fastest-growing airport in terms of passenger numbers. At present, it is the fifth busiest airport serving the London area and the 13th busiest in the UK.
London City Airport car hire
Well positioned for trips into the City of London and even closer to Canary Wharf, the capital’s other major financial centre, London City Airport is frequently used by business travellers. If you’re arriving in the city for a short stay and don’t want to battle with public transport, hiring a car will give you freedom of movement, while Europcar’s hourly car rental option can help keep costs down.
If you do take this option, it’s worth noting that if you head into central London between 7am and 6pm on Monday to Friday, you will have to pay the congestion charge.
Due to its proximity to many of the major sights of the capital, London City Airport is also popular with tourists. You may be arriving for a particular event or occasion or simply to see one of the leading city destinations in the world. With the British Museum, Tate Modern, the Natural History Museum, Madame Tussauds and the Tower of London, visitors don’t want for things to see and do.
Hiring a car also gives the flexibility to get out of town if you’re looking to make the most of a rare visit to the UK. With a car, you can easily get to Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty such as the Chilterns, the Kent Downs and the High Weald – or even further afield.
