What checks am I responsible for when picking up the vehicle?
When collecting your rental vehicle, it's important to take a few moments to ensure everything is in order. Here’s a quick checklist to help you get started:
1. Inspect the Vehicle’s Condition
- Carefully check both the exterior and interior of the vehicle, including any accessories, for pre-existing damage such as scratches, dents, or other marks.
- Make sure any damage is accurately listed on the Rental Agreement. If you notice any damage not already recorded, ask a staff member to add it to the agreement and ensure both of you sign the update.
- If you're unable to report unlisted damage at the time of pick-up (e.g., picking up at night or outside opening hours), you have 24 hours to report it.
2. Fuel Check
- Verify that the fuel level matches the amount indicated in your rental agreement.
3. Mileage Check
- If your rental has limited mileage (e.g., for rentals longer than 20 days or for trucks), make sure the mileage limit and current reading are noted.
4. Familiarize Yourself with the Vehicle
- Before driving off, take a moment to check:
- The fuel type required for the vehicle
- Essential controls such as headlights, indicators, parking brake, and hazard lights
- A Vehicle Instruction Card is available on the sun visor, or you can find one online by clicking here.
By following these steps, you can ensure a smooth rental experience. Let us know if you need any assistance—we’re here to help!
