It has been said the archipelagos of the Cies Islands off the Atlantic coast of Spain have beauty to rival that of the Caribbean. Composed of three islands, Monteagudo, do Faro and San Martiño, the Cies Islands are accessible from Vigo by ferry and boast some of the most impressive scenery in the region. With sheltered, sandy beaches to the east, and dramatic rocky outcrops to the west a trip out to these islands should not be missed. Be sure to visit the lagoon that connects Monteagudo and do Faro with a long strip of turquoise water and to trek through the pine forest to the El Faro lighthouse that looks out across the Atlantic.
