Dublin Car hire

Dublin City, the capital city of Ireland, is one of the top tourist destinations in the world. The historical city has plenty to keep visitors entertained and boasts a rich history reflected in the number of attractions and museums that delve into the city’s past.

Our Europcar office is located just off Pearse Street on the south side of the River Liffey, which divides north and south, within a five minute walk of the city centre. From this location you have the freedom to explore the wide range of attractions in the city and Dublin’s surrounding areas. Dublin City Mark Street boasts a large choice of cars and vans to suit any need you might have.

The architecture in the city tells a visual story of the past dating back to times of British rule. This is readily apparent in the vast amount of Georgian structures which was a product of a Georgian sprawl which occurred in the 16th and 17th century. In recent times Dublin has seen a huge amount of development which can be seen in the newer urban areas found in the city centre where one can marvel at impressive designs such as The Convention Centre located just off the River Liffey.

The city itself has a rich history which dates back over a 1000 years to the Viking era. Following the Norman invasion of the country, Dublin became the centre of British power in the country. One of the most famous and defining events of Dublin’s, and indeed the country’s, past was the 1916 Easter Rising. In April of 1916 republicans took control of several strategic locations and fought with British forces over the course of 6 brutal days. The British force’s superior numbers and artillery won out the fight and many were arrested and leaders executed. This event sparked a new wave of republicans to join the fight and paved the way for the eventual formation of an Irish Free State. Evidence of this struggle can still be seen today on the outer façade of the GPO on O’Connell Street where you’ll find bullet holes that still line the walls.
