Driving in Paris
Paris is a bustling, action-packed and lively city, so expect heavy traffic when you arrive. While the roads are well-maintained and signposted, always drive within the speed limit and take your time navigating unfamiliar routes. Rush hour periods tend to fall between 7-9 in the morning and 5-8 in the evening, so it’s worth avoiding these times if possible. If you’re new to the area, please note that it is illegal to sound your horn in Paris unless a crash is imminent.
With regards to parking, on-street parking bays are available but they can be hard to find. For this reason, you may prefer to use one of the many underground parking garages which tend to open 24 hours a day for your convenience. Many tourists also park on the outskirts of the city where parking is cheaper and make use of public transport systems.
