Rent a van in the UK with Europcar

Driving drums to Dundee? Shifting a shed from Shaw to Sheffield? Taking a trampoline to Tewkesbury? When you need something bigger than your average sized car to get your goods from A to B, we have a whole range of vehicles from vans to trucks to pick-ups so you’re sure to find one perfect for the job.

Transporting large goods, moving bulky objects, or moving house, is made easy with Europcar UK van hire.

With 73 van rental stations across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland we can help wherever you’re travelling from or to. So whether you need to transport a load all the way from John O’Groats to Lands End, or you’re moving house just around the corner, you can hire the right van for you to help you on your way.

And because you can drop off your rental van at a Europcar station close to your destination rather than returning it to where you hired it, your journey is made even easier.

We offer flexible short and long-term van hire, so you can be done in a day with our hourly and daily hire options, or take a bit longer to move your goods with an overnight or month+ option. The choice is yours.

Van hire from Europcar is great value and convenient, helping you get the job done wherever you need to go and whatever you need to transport.

Are you packing up your whole house? Moving furniture into storage? Transporting bulky items? Whatever the reason, if your load is large and you need a van or truck, look no further. Our extensive range of vehicles offers something to suit all requirements and budgets.

For small loads, choose from compact vans such as the Vauxhall Vivaro or Vauxhall Combo Crewvan. Larger loads may benefit from the extra capacity of a Ford Custom or Citroen Dispatch. And if you’re moving house, consider hiring the Mercedes Sprinter with 14m3 of space or even the Iveco Daily with a massive 19m3.

Van driving tips in the UK

Driving a van or truck in the UK should be relatively simple once you have got used to the larger size of the vehicle. Take a few minutes when you first get in to familiarise yourself with the layout and controls so you are prepared for the journey. Here are a few tips:

  • UK residents require a category B driving licence to drive vans with a limit of 8 passengers. The driver must also have held a full driving licence for a minimum of 12 months – be sure to check what you are eligible to drive here.
  • Check your route in advance and make sure it doesn’t include any roads that are too narrow or unsuitable for large vehicles – if so, plan an alternative route.
  • Be aware of the height of the vehicle and check it will fit under any structures such as low bridges or car park entrances.
  • A large truck may need a bit more space for turning than you’re used to – make sure you allow for this when parking and manoeuvring.
  • Slow down, particularly in windy conditions.
  • Carrying a heavy load can affect braking and acceleration – make sure you allow more space for braking.
  • Remember that visibility won’t be the same as driving a car – you may be relying on just your wing mirrors if there isn’t a rear view mirror or if the rear view is obscured by your load.

Once you’re prepared and all loaded up you can be on your way and enjoying the trip in your rental van.
