There is also ZSL Whipsnade Zoo near Dunstable, the UK’s largest zoo with 3,800 species in 600 acres of parkland. If you want to experience more of the outdoors, there is the beautiful landscape of the Dunstable Downs with its fantastic wildlife and plants.

Luton’s central location makes it useful for onwards journeys. Nearest towns include Cambridge (40 miles/64 kilometres), Oxford (50 miles/80 kilometres) and the Cotswolds (71 miles/114 kilometres). London is 34 miles (54 kilometres) from Luton by car. 

Visit the Dunstable Downs

If you are renting a car in Luton, make a trip to the beautiful Dunstable Downs. Part of the Chilterns, the Downs mark the highest point of the Bedfordshire county. To experience a great panorama at the summit, you just need to drive to the viewpoint off the B4541 road. The Downs are home to several species of rare wild flower and butterfly.
