Driving in Alicante is generally uncomplicated but there are a few things you should be aware of. Drink driving is taken very seriously and standard EU limits apply. Regarding speed limits, in urban areas the speed limit is capped at 50 km/h, while country roads are 90 km/h and motorways 120 km/h. Many residential areas have a speed limit of 20 km/h.

Most hotels in Alicante charge for the use of their secure car parks, with prices starting from around €7 per day. There is some street parking available, paid-meter spots are indicated by blue markings, whilst yellow curbs highlight no parking zones.
