There are many things to do in this part of the world with a chocolate tour perhaps being an ideal choice for those with a sweet tooth. If you want to sample local chocolate, see how your favourite praline is made or simply enjoy the sweet aroma of melted chocolate, be sure to also visit the Museum of Chocolate and Cocoa.
Once you’ve satisfied your sugar cravings, you may wish to head to other well-known attractions such as Mini-Europe where you’ll discover Europe’s most-popular landmarks on a smaller scale. The Royal Palace of Brussels also makes for an opulent day out and if you just fancy chilling outdoors, Leopold Park is the perfect spot for a picnic.
With fuel in the tank and a camera to hand, you could also venture further afield to nearby cities such as the beautiful port town of Ghent or the culturally rich city of Antwerp. Should you wish to escape the hustle and bustle of city life, Avesnois Regional Natural Park is also within easy reach.
Driving in Brussels
As a rule throughout Brussels, drivers stay on the left and overtake on the right when safe. Traffic can be busy throughout the European Area and near major attractions, so leave plenty of time to get to your required destination. Roads are usually well-maintained and well-signposted.
On-street parking is available but is usually limited to two hours. Alternatively, use one of the many parking lots in the city centre. There are also eight free park and ride locations on the outskirts of the city with locations including Roodebeek and Kraainem.
