Discover Billund and surroundings by car

One of the main reasons many people travel to Billund is to visit LEGOLAND® Billund Resort – the original LEGOLAND theme park which opened back in 1968. Just a stone’s throw from the airport, this could certainly be your first stop with more than 50 rides and a host of themed LEGO lands including Mini Land and Duplo Land sure to put you in the mood for an action-packed holiday.

You could also enjoy a tour of the nearby LEGO factory and get a sneak peak of how one of the world’s most-loved toys is made. What’s more, be sure to suss out LEGO House, a brand new experience centre which opens to the public in the autumn of 2017.

As well as many LEGO-based activities to enjoy in Billund you could also head to Scandinavia’s largest AquaDome in Lalandia or take a drive to the Givskud Zoo which is just a 25 minute drive from Billund and home to more than 700 animals from 70 different species.

The wider Jutland peninsula is a delight too with the major east-coast port of Aarhus being just over an hour’s drive away. Here you’ll find many things to see and do with the Aarhus Botanical Garden and the underground Viking Museum giving a fascinating insight into Denmark’s colourful history.

A leisurely drive to the capital of Copenhagen also makes for an exciting adventure with must-see attractions including Tivoli Gardens and the sculpture of The Little Mermaid.

Moreover, Denmark has some of the most beautiful beaches in Europe with Søndervig Beach in West Jutland being a popular seaside resort and Kerteminde's North Beach on Funen Island being ideal for families. The quaint fishing village of Tisvildeleje at the top of the Danish Riviera on North Zealand is also a highlight with its coastline offering the perfect retreat away from city life.

Driving in Billund

In Denmark, drivers stay on the right hand side of the road and overtake on the left, so take extra care if you’re from a country where the rules are reversed. When driving in Denmark, your headlights should also be switched on and set to a dipped beam even in the daytime.

With regards to parking, there are ample spaces at Billund’s top attractions such as LEGOLAND. There are also parking garages dotted around the city as well as limited on-street parking spaces.
