How can we help you ?

What is the actual driving range of an electric vehicle?

When booking your vehicle on our website, you’ll see the official range provided by the manufacturer. This is typically based on ECO mode driving in urban or suburban conditions.

Our selection of latest-generation electric vehicles is increasingly efficient and allows you to comfortably undertake long-distance journeys. However, real-world range can vary depending on your driving style and the type of trip.

Not sure you'll be able to reach your destination? Don’t worry – we’ve prepared a comprehensive guide to help you drive with confidence. It even includes tips to help you maximise the distance you can travel on a single battery charge.

Here is a short excerpt with a few simple guidelines to help you plan your journey

On the highway:

At higher speeds, energy consumption increases. As a result, the real range is usually about two-thirds of the manufacturer’s stated range.

In the mountains:

  • Expect to lose around 36 km of range for every 1,000 meters of elevation gain.
  • On the descent, you can recover about 20 km of range per 1,000 meters thanks to regenerative braking.

In cold weather:

Using the heater in winter can reduce the vehicle’s range by up to 15%, depending on the outside temperature.

To help preserve range, you can preheat the vehicle overnight while it’s still plugged in, so it’s warm and ready to go without drawing on the battery during your drive.

Depending on load weight (mainly Trucks or Vans) :

  • On the highway, load weight has minimal impact at constant speed.
  • In city driving, where frequent stops and starts are common, you may lose up to 33% of range per additional tonne of load.

Our team at the rental desk will also be pleased to provide any additional guidance when you collect your vehicle.
