What additional covers or protections are useful for my car rental?
Every Europcar rental includes Third Party Liability coverage — this protects against bodily injury or property damage to others, as required by law.
To further protect yourself and reduce your financial responsibility in case of damage or theft, you can choose from several protection packages:
Basic Protection
- Includes coverage for damage and theft
- A standard excess (maximum out-of-pocket amount) applies
Medium Protection
Gives you more peace of mind for common types of damage
- Reduces your excess
- Adds Glass, Lights, and Tyres protection
Premium Protection
Our highest level of coverage
- Zero excess
- Includes windscreen, glass, lights, and tyres protection
You can select your protection level during the booking process or at the rental counter when you arrive.

Using Third-Party Insurance?
If you purchase insurance from a third-party provider (not through Europcar), please note:
- Europcar will still apply its standard charges in case of damage or theft.
- You’ll need to request reimbursement directly from your third-party insurer.
