How to choose the right size hire vehicle

At Europcar, our extensive fleet ranges from small cars ideal for driving in the city to vans for specific needs, and everything in between. We follow a professional classification (called the ACRISS codes) to group our rental vehicles and simplify these into categories to help you choose the right size car for your trip.

Hire a small car for fuel efficiency

These vehicles, available in our mini or economy categories, can accommodate up to four or five passengers and are great for short trips. Cars in these categories include the Fiat 500, Citroen C3 and Vauxhall Corsa.

These cars are ideal if you’re travelling alone or with one or two others, if you need excellent fuel economy in urban areas, or if you feel more comfortable behind the wheel of a smaller car when maneuvering in and out of parking spots.

Hire a medium size car or saloon for more comfort

The cars in our compact and intermediate categories have a little more leg room and luggage space than an economy car, to accommodate a small family. Models in these categories include Toyota Corolla, Mercedes-Benz A Class and Skoda Octavia. You can comfortably fit up to five people in these cars, and with bigger engines and the latest in-car technology they’re perfect for longer journeys.

Hire a family car or MPV to travel in a small group

Family cars provide extra space for passengers and luggage. In addition the back seats often fold down to make extra boot space if you need room for multiple suitcases.

Included in our standard and fullsize categories, these cars are ideal for larger groups and big families, if you need the extra space to ensure everyone’s comfort, or if you’re travelling with extra luggage to go on holiday. Examples of family cars available at Europcar are Volkswagen Passat, Kia Sportage and Volkswagen Sharan.
