What is included in the price, and what additional charges may apply?

When you book with Europcar, the price you see online (or receive in a quote) includes all mandatory charges based on your booking details.

This quote generally includes the following items :

  • Value Added Tax (VAT) or any other local tax
  • Unlimited Mileage, or if this is not the case, the clear number of kilometers/miles included, with the cost of each extra kilometer/mile
  • Premium location surcharge, applicable for specific locations such as Airports or Train stations.
  • Road tax and License fee surcharge
  • Third party liability insurance
  • Collision Damage Waiver "CDW" and Theft Waiver "TW". Collision Damage Waiver and Theft waiver may be merged together in Loss Damage Waiver ("LDW") in some countries.

Some charges may not be automatically included in your quote and must be added manually during booking, depending on your age or travel plans:

  • Young Driver Surcharge – applies to drivers under 26. It’s automatically added once you enter your age.
  • Cross-Border Travel / EuropDrive Pack – required if you plan to drive outside the UK. You can add this option during the booking process.

Booking Through a Third Party?

If you're using a third-party site, double-check that the total price includes all necessary items. If anything is missing, it will be added at the counter when you collect your car.

Good to Know:

The excess amount shown during booking is the maximum you’d pay if the vehicle is damaged or stolen.

Want extra peace of mind? You can reduce or remove your liability—and lower the required security deposit—by adding optional protection products during booking or at the rental desk.
