Warrington is an industrial city with an interesting museum and art gallery. It is also ideally placed for visiting the larger cities of Liverpool and Manchester both of which are a short drive away and have a much larger variety of museums, concerts, and shopping to offer.

Norton Priory, a short drive away, is well worth a visit. A Georgian house next door is a sort of museum for the artefacts from the ruined Augustinian abbey. An eighteenth-century walled garden has been restored. Park your Europcar car or van and wander through the rose walk and sculpture trail.
Chester, the county town of Cheshire, has a lot to offer for a day trip. There’s a cathedral, castle, city walls and the unique Chester Rows which are half-timbered galleried walkways of shops that date from the fourteenth century. They are some of the most elegant shopping streets in the world and sell everything from fashion to antiques and hand-made chocolate.
